Ron Seiverth – Rome Coliseum

In early June of 2011, Ron had a one night stop over in Rome, arriving at 3:00 in the afternoon and flying out early the next morning for home. With time limited, he wanted to capture at least a taste of the great city. After dinner he grabbed his Canon 7D with a 10-20mm wide angle lens, a Joby GorillaPod and a cable release, and walked to the Coliseum for some possible night shots. “The Coliseum is beautifully lit and it was really fun to experiment to get the proper exposure.” You would have to say in this image, he nailed it. Finding the proper foreground without distracting clutter had to also be a challenge. The “starry” moon was a pleasant addition. Overall, he came home with a winning capture.
Focal Length – 11mm, shutter 1.0 sec – aperture f/8 – ISO 3200.
