Tour the Cape Fear on this Riverboat
A new series of postings entitled Photographer’s Choice begins this week with this submission by Leda Winebarger. The family was taking a tour of the battleship USS North Carolina in the late afternoon when Leda spotted this harbor scene. She was attracted by the lighting, the sky color, the river boat and its reflection, with the Wilmington skyline in the background. She took several shots with her Nikon D80 and shares the above with us.The shutter speed was 1/500 second and an aperture of f/11 was selected. Her lens was a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 at a wide 24mm. The ISO a low 200.
One of the things that makes this photo pop is the red/orange color of the sky above the darkened shapes of the buildings…and then the upper right dirt lot? picks up and compliments that same shade of color. Excellent composition, also.
I agree with Christine, lovely light! Love that you chose a different perspective than the typical shots on the Cape Fear @ Wilmington, a lot are so busy photographing the battleship that they forget to look at what else is around them! Beautiful scene!
Very nice! I love the light.
Very plesant!
I like how the pointy building in the distance draws attention away from the boxes to the left. The dash of red on the deck nicely linking in with the colour along the plimsoll line.
lovely composition!
thank you
