Backlighting refers to lighting in a photograph that illuminates your subject from behind. This causes the edges of the subject to glow while other areas remain darker or, at times, silhouetted. When effectively implemented in a scene, backlighting can enhance the finer details of an object (such as the veins in a leaf) or a scenes more delicate features (such as the dust particles or drops of mist in a given background).
The backlighting source can be natural light, such as the sun in nature and landscape shots, or an artificial source. And when pulled off right, the resulting effect can add a more dramatic, intense mood to your image. If there is light, then there is the opportunity for backlighting—the possibilities are endless, so get out there and shoot!

Wow! I am so impressed with us! This is going to be hard!
I found the many interpretations for ‘Reflections’ quite exciting. Each creation is unique in its own right. kck
This is the best group of photos that just hit the “backlighting” topic perfectly. Each one is completely different, but demonstrates the theme. I normally pick out 5 or 6 photos that I think meet the requirements and then narrow down to the three that I like. This month it will be a difficult choice. Ron
Beautiful entries!!! Eye candy for sure!
